Key points
- VA says you can manage health appointments online if you are registered as a patient at a VA health facility.
- What you can schedule online depends on your facility, the type of care and other factors.
- The VA site also covers community care requests, after-visit summaries and travel pay claims.
Who can use VA online scheduling
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) says you can manage your health appointments online if you are registered as a patient at a VA health facility. The appointments you can schedule online depend on your facility, the type of health service and other factors — so if a type of care isn’t offered online, contact your facility.
Book My Service is not affiliated with the VA. Use va.gov and your facility’s official contact details for anything about your care.
What you can do online
According to VA, its online appointment tools let you:
- schedule and cancel some VA health appointments;
- request approved community care appointments;
- review and print appointment lists and add appointments to your personal calendar;
- find the location of the VA or community care facility for an appointment;
- get after-visit summaries for some appointments;
- review travel pay reimbursement claims you have submitted.
Start from VA’s manage appointments page (external site) and sign in with your VA account.
Protecting your information
VA notes that if you print or download anything from its online tools, you are responsible for protecting that information. Use a private device and store printouts securely.
Preparing for the appointment
Prepare as for any medical visit — your medicine list, symptoms and questions. See how to prepare for a doctor appointment.
Video visits
VA offers video appointments through VA Video Connect, and its appointments page links to help with joining them. For general tips on lighting, privacy and testing your device, see preparing for a telehealth appointment.
Getting help
VA’s appointments page lists help lines for My HealtheVet and for other VA online services, with their hours. Use the numbers shown on va.gov.
